Project narrative

On December 21, 2009, an Exchange of Notes on the Construction Project of New Office Buildings for the Senate was signed by H.E. Tep Ngon, Second Vice President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Chen Jian, Vice Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, granting $7.7 million for the construction of three buildings as well as the purchase of furniture and office supplies. The agreement for the project is one out of 14 agreements signed between China and Cambodia on December 21, 2009. On December 29, 2011, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the project was held. Construction got underway in February 2012 and was carried out by China Guangdong Foreign Construction. Construction was completed on December 10, 2013 . On January 20, 2014, the Cambodian government inaugurated the three Chinese-funded office buildings for the Cambodian Senate . The ceremony was presided by Say Chhum, Acting-President of the Cambodian Senate, and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo. The new office building project for the Cambodian Senate included three three-story office buildings with a total area of 4,779 square meters, as well as elevators, electrical appliances, and office equipment.
