Project narrative
On December 21, 2009, China Eximbank and the Government of Cambodia signed an RMB 629,091,787 government concessional loan (GCL) agreement for the National Road No. 57B (NR 57B) Rehabilitation Project. The borrowing terms of the GCL are as follows: 20-year maturity, 7-year grace period, and 1.25% interest rate. The proceeds from the GCL were used to finance an EPC contract with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC). The purpose of the project was to rehabilitate three segments of National Road No. 57B (NR 57B) measuring 176.39 km in length: Thmor-Kol-Bavel-Sampov Loun; Baval-Phum Samseb-Phnom Prik; and Phnum Samset-Kamrieng-O Da. NR 57B is connected to National Road No. 5 (NR 5) in Battambang Province. CRBC was the EPC contractor responsible for project implementation. The project was supervised by Guangzhou Wanan Construction Supervision Company. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on March 21, 2011. The project was officially completed and the road was opened to traffic on March 10, 2014.
