Description

On November 19, 2004, the Chinese Government provided an RMB 10 million grant to the Government of Laos for the Triumphal Arch Park Construction Project. The grant agreement was co-signed by Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Somsavad Lengsavat and Chinese Ambassador to Laos Mr. Liu Yong Xing. The purpose of the project was to construct the Triumphal Arch Park (or Arc de Triomphe Park or 万象凯旋门公园) in the capital city of Vientiane in advance of an ASEAN summit in Laos. The park is located in the middle of a downtown avenue, covering an area of 40,000 square meters. The Arc de Triomphe is located in the park, surrounded by lush palm trees. Guangdong Hydro Bureau 3 Co., Ltd. was the contractor responsible for implementation. It took 3 months to complete the project. Construction officially started on July 14, 2004. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on November 28, 2004.
