Project narrative

In 2004, local county governments in the Yunnan province granted 28 million CNY (3.38 million USD) to the upgrade of the Zhangfeng-Bhamo road. The project is referred to as 章凤至缅甸八莫公路 or 章八公路. Additionally, the Zhangfeng-Moemauk Road Construction Co based in Zhangfeng will provide all upgrades and repairs to the road for 10 years free of charge. Construction began in December 2004 and was completed in 2007. The agreement to construct the highway was signed in Yangon on Nov. 4, between China's Zhangfeng-Momauk Road construction company and Myanmar's Construction Ministry.
