Project narrative

On 14 September 2012, the Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi sent condolences to his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Binh Minh, over the heavy losses of both human lives and property caused by recent floods in several central provinces. On the same day, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, Kong Xuanyou also presented USD 10,000 to the Vietnam's Red Cross, as a relief aid for the flood victims.The Chairman of the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee, Nguyen Hai Duong thanked the Chinese friends for the gift. Heavy rains and floods had affected Ninh Binh to Ha Tinh provinces earlier in the month, claiming 16 lives and having 38 others wounded .
