Project narrative

In December 2008, in order to relieve the food shortage faced by the ex-poppy farmers and maintain the regional security and stabilization in northern Myanmar, China donated 10,000 tons of rice to the Myanmar government and delivered them to the 16 border points of Shan State and Kachin State in Northern Myanmar. Mr. Tang Hai, Economic & Commercial Counsellor of Embassy of China in Myanmar, and U Khin Kyue, Acting Director General of Progress of Border Areas and National Races of the Department of Ministry of Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs of Myanmar signed the Hand-Over Certificate on behalf of the Chinese government and Myanmar government.
