Description
From 6 November to 24 December 2011 China promoted a 48-days enshrinement of the Sacred Buddha tooth relic in Yangon, Myanmar. This has been declared during a press conference held immediately previous to the signing ceremony of a MoU between China and Myanmar the establishment of friendly relationship between the Beijing Lingguang Temple and the Shwedagon Pagoda of Yangon on the occasion of the 2,600th anniversary of the founding of the Shwedagon Pagoda which took place on 22 February 2012 in Yangon.This enshrinement is the 4th in the history of China-Myanmar relations, and it has achieved remarkable success. At the invitation of successive Myanmar governments, the Chinese Buddha sacred tooth relic had been conveyed to Myanmar four times in 1955-56, 1994, 1996-97 and 2011 respectively.
