On February 23, 2005, during the visit of Chinese vice-premier Zeng Peiyan, the Chinese Government and Government of Kenya signed two Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreements (ETCAs). One of these ETCAs (as captured by project ID#1066) committed a $10.387 million USD grant, while, in the other ETCA (as captured by this project), the Chinese Government promised unspecified assistance to Kenya, in partnership with Kenya's Ministry of Energy, for oil and gas exploration (see 'China Gives Kenya Sh200m for New Projects').
As an ETCA, which is a financing mechanism specific to China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), AidData has coded MOFCOM as the specific Chinese Government institution responsible for providing any funds.
