On August 7, 2003, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao announced during talks with Prime Minister of Niger Hama Amadou that the Chinese Government would provide a grant worth RMB 50 million (~$6 million USD) for economic aid (see 'China's Wen Jiabao promises Niger 50m yuan in economic aid.')
