Description
On April 23, 2004, China pledged to grant US$11 million to Liberia to repair and renovate the SKD sports complex and to rehabilitate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the Agence France Presse source. According to the National Transitional Government source, on April 28, 2005, the financing for the SKD sports complex and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had still not been distributed and was a 'hard pledge' of 10 million USD. On October 31, 2006, China and Liberia signed an agreement on economic and technical cooperation that included a grant of 40,000,000 CNY (about $5 million USD) for the completion of 'various projects' including the Foreign Ministry building. The SKD sports complex began construction on September 26, 2005 and was completed on July 21, 2007. The total cost of the stadium was $7.6 million USD; however, it is unknown if China solely financed the entire project (captured in #1589).The Ministry of Foreign Affairs construction was completed on March 1, 2007 (captured in #1627).
