Description

In January 2006, Li Zhaoxing, the first high-level Chinese visitor to Senegal since the rapprochement, signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) with his Senegalese counterpart Cheikh Tidiane Gadio, which committed RMB 30 million in grant funding for an unspecified set of development and infrastructure projects. In addition to this grant commitment, the Chinese Government provided a $200,000 cash grant for flood victims after the country experienced heavy rains that damaged thousands of homes in September 2005 (see Project ID#1696).
