On January 13, 2001, it was announced that the Ugandan Tourism, Trade and Industry Minister Prof. Edward Rugumayo and Chinese ambassador to Uganda Zhang Xujiang were soon to sign a trade pact worth $10 million USD to promote trade, economic and technical co-operation between Uganda and China.
