Description

On 22 May 2013, the Chinese Government signed an agreement for the provision of a $16 million USD grant in support of various unspecified projects in the water, mining, and other related sectors (See: China extends US$36 million loan for projects). Also on 23 May, 2013, Acting Zimbabwean Finance Minister, Sipepa Nkomo, and the Deputy Minister of Commerce signed on behalf of China at a ceremony witnessed by Vice President, Joice Mujuru, and the visiting Chinese Vice-Premier, Wang Yang, an agreement committing a $16 million interest-free loan for the same unspecified purposes (See: Zimbabwe, China pen US$32 million cooperation agreements). This brings the total amount committed to $32 million USD. The provision of the interest-free loan is captured in the linked project #30802.Zimbabwe and China also exchanged three acceptance letters for economic and technical cooperation for drilling of 136 boreholes and another for the feasibility study for the drilling of other 300 boreholes (See: Zimbabwe, China pen US$32 million cooperation agreements).
