Description
During President Uhuru Kenyatta's trip to China, Chinese officials offered an interest-free loan of 2.8bn [33.46bn dollars] to be given to Kenya within five years from 1 September 2013. The loan has a repayment period of 10 years. Repayment will begin in 2023. This loan is to be used for technical and economic cooperation projects, which are to be agreed upon at a later date. Approval of projects is subjected to the Kenyan Parliament's scrutiny, which has threatened to cancel projects.
