In September 2008, Yang Jiechi, Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered a 50 million yuan (about 7.31 million US dollars) grant to Sri Lanka on behalf of the Chinese government under an agreement of economic and technical cooperation signed earlier in Colombo between the two governments.
