Description

On December 20, 2007 China and Nepal signed an agreement for China to provide a grant assistance equivalent to 50 million RMB (428.5 million Rs) for various development projects in Nepal. Projects include the Rasuwagadi-Syafru Besi road, an optical fibre cable connecting Kathmandu and Lhasa, broadening the Khasa-Tatopani Road, and repairing the Miteri Bridge. Rasuwagadi-Syafru Besi road: In September 2009, the construction of the 16km Syabrubensi - Rasuwagadi road began and would cost 20 million USD which will be fully funded by the Chinese government, and in 2012 China and Nepal signed the letter of transfer. In December 2012, construction was completed and the road was officially handed over to Nepal.Kathmandu-Khasa optical fibre cable: In September 2007 China and Nepal signed an agreement to build a 115 kilometer modern optical super-highway linking Kathmandu and Khasa (also known as Zhangmu) in China. In 2008, China handed over the Khasa-Kathmandu optical fibre cable project to Nepal (For details, see project #42659).
