Project narrative

In March 2017, the Chinese Ministry of Culture announced its intend to fund the creation of a Chinese Cultural Center in Auckland, following the signing of an agreement between Auckland Mayor Phil Goff and Chinese Ambassador Wang Lutong. New Zealand will be the first country in the world to have two Chinese Cultural Centres. The Centre began trial operation in October 2022. The details of what the Chinese Cultural Centre entails are unknown.
