In 2012, the Chinese Consulate in Christchurch donated a small box of books to the Dunedin Chinese Gardens Trust for use in the Tower Room Library inside the Dunedin Chinese Garden, a collaboration between the Shanghai Municipal Library, the Chinese Consulate in Christchurch, and the Dunedin Public Libraries. The financial value of the donation is unknown.
