Project narrative

On 29th March 2022, H.E. Ambassador Ma Jianchun Awarded the Chinese Ambassador’s Scholarship to 20 academically outstanding students from the University of Gambia (UTG). An awarding ceremony was held in the Law Faculty Auditorium at UTG Kanifing campus, attended by UTG Vice Chancellor Prof. Herbert Robinson, UTG faculty and management staff, the Chinese Dean of UTG Confucius Institute, members of the Chinese agricultural expert team, and beneficiaries of the scholarship. Ambassador Ma congratulated the awardees on winning the scholarship- a program that has been implemented annually since 2017 for supporting UTG students’ academic pursuits and assisting the UTG in fostering The Gambia’s brainpower for achieving national development goals. The scholarship benefit involves full annual tuition fee for the beneficiaries which is paid directly to the UTG.
