In January 2020, CNOOC Petroleum Europe Limited, an England and Wales-incorporated wholly-owned subsidiary of Chinese state-owned oil and gas company CNOOC Limited, provided a £80,000 GBP grant for the PETGAS (Petrophysics of Tight Gas Sandstone Reservoirs) and FRG (Fluvial, Eolian and Shallow-Marine Research Group) Joint Industry Projects at the University of Leeds.
