Project narrative

On April 27, 2022, the Chinese Government signed a $310,000 USD certificate of aid for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Maldives to contribute to the renovation of the Foreign Ministry Building Renovation Project. The assistance was initially announced in January 2022 during China's State Councilor, Wang Yi's visit to the Maldives. In addition to contributing towards the renovation project, the aid will also be used for training and capacity building purposes. The Chinese government has contributed to the development of the Foreign Ministry Building, which was completed in 2006 {see Record ID#54160}. China has continued to extend its support towards the development of the Foreign Ministry Building by providing aid to the Government of Maldives in 2019 to begin the Foreign Ministry Building Renovation Project {see Record ID#54157}.
