Project narrative

On September 12, 2006, the City of Shanghai donated Chinese books to the city of Hamburg as part of a Windows of Shanghai unveiling ceremony and to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Shanghai and Hamburg in a series of cultural events between September 13 and October 1, entitled Hamburg China Time. The books, consisting of 372 titles and 489 volumes, would be placed in the Central Library of Hamburg. In 2007, Hamburg expressed to Shanghai that the Chinese books were frequently borrowed by Hamburg patrons.
