Project narrative

On September 7, 2020, the Chinese Ambassador to Egypt on behalf of Chinese Ministry of Education's Center for Language Education and Cooperation signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Incorporating Chinese as an Elective Second Foreign Language in Egyptian Primary and Secondary Schools with the Egyptian Ministry of Education. The protocol provides resources for Egyptian Chinese language teachers to be trained by China. The pilot language program allows these teachers to teach Chinese in 12 middle schools in Egypt. On September 25, 2022, the pilot program officially started. Experts from Beijing Language and Culture University and Cairo University's Confucius Institute provided the training for the teachers.
