Project narrative

On September 19, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in East Timor, in collaboration with the Yunnan Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, donated USD 70,000 to the Asosiasaun Café Timor-Leste (ACTL). ACTL is a non-profit association of coffee growers and producers, and is the premier coffee trade organization in Timor-Leste. Coffee is a key export from Timor-Leste, and Timorese coffee is noted for its quality. Part of the money is ear-marked for training programs on the quality on coffee. Prior to this donation, the Chinese Embassy donated USD 20,000 to Asosiasaun Café Timor on November 16, 2021 (see in Record ID#96506).
