Project narrative

On March 27th, 2019, the China-Africa Development Fund, the China-Portuguese Cooperation and Development Fund, and Wanbao African Agricultural Development Company (Wanbao Africa) shipped 100 tons of rice to the headquarters of Mozambique's National Disaster Relief Agency, making it the largest rice donation Mozambique has received from a Chinese company since it was hit by the severe tropical cyclone "Idai" on March 16. Wanbao Africa is a rice planting and processing project company jointly invested by China-Africa Development Fund and China-Portuguese Fund in Mozambique, and the rice it shipped was a variety named "Good Taste" by former Mozambican President Armando Guebuza. The donation ceremony was organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Mozambique, and Guo Wei, chairman and general manager of China Railway 20th Bureau Mozambique and general manager of Wanbao Africa, attended on behalf of the shareholders of the Wanbao project. The Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Su Jian was present to deliver a speech at the donation ceremony. The monetary value of the donation is unknown.
