Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In March 2022, the 11th Chinese medical team arrived in Ghana. The 11-member team, organized by Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, includes senior doctors in anesthesia, general surgery, cardiology, radiology, neurology, acupuncture, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology and other specialties. The team also organized and launched free clinics to treat local patients and provide medical security for local Chinese-funded enterprises. The team organized and carried out training of local medical staff to improve local hospitals’ medical treatment and service standards through lectures, training courses, and assisted clinical diagnoses. On February 14, 2023, it was reported that the team's general surgery staff alone completed more than 300 operations, including more than 40 orthopedic surgeries and more than 200 obstetric surgeries. It is unclear when the team will complete their service. It is estimated that their service, like other medical teams, is one year.
