Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On April 24, 2002 China extended a $3 million grant to the Kenyan government to help it pay outstanding debt owed by the Kenyan State Cereals Agency to local farmers and ease a crisis in the maize sector. Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji and Kenyan President Daniel Arap Moi signed the grant. A letter of intent from Kenya to the IMF in 2009 states that as of May 15 Kenya had received $3 million from China to assist the maize crisis. The exact locations and dates of the project are unknown.
