Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On June 13, 2016, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) signed an agreement to establish the Audi Confucius Institute Ingolstadt. As part of the agreement, Hanban is obligated to provide teaching materials, an annual fund, and numbers of Chinese instructors. The funds are dispersed through a local Bank of China account or other approved bank account created by the institute. The agreement has a 5-year validity and automatically renews at the end of every 5-year term. On October 6, 2016, Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt and South China University of Technology (华南理工大学), the cooperating partner, signed a supplementary implementation agreement. South China University of Technology agreed to provide one or two visiting scholars annually, donate teaching materials, and receive student study groups. The Confucius Institute was officially established on May 23, 2017. The Confucius Institute was Germany’s 19th Confucius Institute to be established. The Audi-Ingolstadt Confucius Institute, authorized by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), was jointly established by the Audi Group, the Municipal Government of Ingolstadt, Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt, and South China University of Technology. It was the first Confucius Institute to be co-founded with a multinational enterprise.
