Project narrative

The Confucius Classroom at Faust-Gymnasium Staufen Institutions was established on July 14, 2010. The Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) awarded the Confucius Classroom status in recognition of the school's achievements in Chinese language and culture education, providing Faust-Gymnasium Staufen with a grant. Middle School No.1 Huazhong Normal University (华中师大附属第一中学) was the partner Chinese institution for this Confucius Classroom. The Confucius Classroom was the first Confucius Classroom established at German middle school. The Confucius Classroom started as an independent Confucius Classroom that was not affiliated with a university. The commitment year for the Confucius Classroom was 2009 with the agreement signed on March 8, 2010. The Confucius Classroom was officially opened on July 14, 2010. The Confucius Institute at the University of Freiburg officially took over the Confucius Classroom and supported Chinese lessons with teachers, teaching materials and cultural events.
