Project narrative

On January 18, 2022, a volcanic eruption in Tonga caused a major tsunami. On January 19, 2022, in reaction to this disaster, the Chinese government delivered a donation of emergency supplies, including food and water, to Tonga. The donation was delivered through the help of the Chinese Embassy in Tonga. Chinese Ambassador to Tonga Cao Xiaolin held a handover ceremony at the embassy to officially hand over the first batch of emergency supplies to Tonga's Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Emergency Committee. The donation was the first of three, the second two documented in Record ID #s #100780 and #100782.
