Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

Between 2019 and 2021, the 10th Chinese agricultural expert team was stationed in Guinea Bissau. In January 2019, the then-President of Guinea Bissau José Mário Vaz visited rice farms in Cacheu, his hometown. The farms received aid from the 10th Chinese agricultural team and increased rice yields. On April 18, 2021, the 10th agricultural team in Guinea Bissau met with the Chinese ambassador to Guinea Bissau. The meeting was a farewell ceremony, and the team returned to China. During their tour in the country, they donated agricultural supplies to Guinea Bissau (see Record ID#101525). Since 1998, the Chinese government, specifically the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, has sent more than 230 experts to Guinea-Bissau in 11 groups. The experts have selected and bred 37 rice varieties for Guinea-Bissau and cultivated more than 30,000 kilograms of rice varieties in the past three years.
