Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 2016, 33% of the funding for the University of Technology Sydney's Australia-China Relations Institute (UTS: ACRI) derived from external contributions. The Australia-China Relations Institute is an affiliated think tank established by the University of Technology Sydney to focus on Australia-China relations. Corporate contributions were received from China Construction Bank (CCB) and Bank of China in addition to 12 other contributors (Australian Turf Club, BlueMount Capital, Corrs, Crown Resorts, Deloitte, EG Funds, Holding Redlich, HSBC, KPMG, King & Wood Mallesons, NAB and Star Entertainment). The total corporate contributions towards the 2016 funding totaled to $535,000 AUD, of which CCB is estimated to have provided $38214.29 AUD given the assumption of equal contributions.

Staff comments

1. To estimate the contributions by the Chinese state-owned entities, AidData has assumed that each donor granted in equal proportions ($38214.2857143 AUD each) for the $535,000 AUD total corporate contributions.
