Project narrative

On May 26, 2022, Zijin Mining Group launched the "For A Better Future" (Chinese: 为了未来) initiative. The project was to involve donating textbooks and school bags and providing scholarships for outstanding students over the course of several years. The scholarships were financed separately, as captured in Record ID#101721. For 2022, the initiative had a budget of EUR 300,000. To launch the initiative, Zijin Mining studied educational problems in Bor, a city located near Serbia Zijin Bor Copper, a copper mining and smelting site operated by Zijin Mining Group. As part of this initiative, in September 2022, Zijin Mining Group held a handover ceremony at Branko Radicevic School. 1,690 students received 30,215 textbooks, and 3,446 recieved a Zijin branded school bag. According Zijin's agreement with the school, they will provide textbooks for the next five years for students in grades 5-8 and school bags for students in grades 1-8.
