Project narrative

On June 11, 2002, the Chinese Government and Government of Malta signed an agreement for cooperation in the field of Chinese traditional medicine. The agreement was dated to go into effect as of April 14, 2002 and last for a duration of two years. The agreement included technical assistance related to the Mediterranean Regional Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine (MRCTCM) in Malta, including a full-time manager and one to two other employees provided by the Chinese Government to support daily operations. The MRCTCM treats Maltese patients using ancient Chinese methods such as acupuncture. Following this agreement, the Chinese Government continued to send medical teams to MRCTCM on odd years from 2005 to 2019 and also in 2018.
