Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On June 30, 2020, an unspecified Chinese entity donated 30 ventilators and 40,000 masks to the Malta China Friendship Society (MCFS). The donated items arrived at some time during July 2020 and the ventilators were sent to a warehouse of Malta's Health Ministry upon arrival. Foreign Affairs Minister Evarist Bartolo and Malta's Ambassador to China, John Aquilina, were both thanked for their help in making the donation possible, and it is likely that the donation was facilitated by a Chinese government entity. The estimated value of the ventilators is USD $851,520. The value of the masks cannot be estimated, as it is unknown whether the donation included surgical masks or N95 masks.
