Project narrative

On June 20, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Burundi held a handover ceremony for 190,000 sets of digital TV terminal receiving products to Burundi as the second phase of the 10,000 African Villages project (see Record ID#73382). The aim of the project is to provide satellite TV access to 10,000 villages in Africa. According to the Chinese Embassy in Burundi, the first phase of the "10,000 Villages" project in Burundi gave coverage to 300 villages and was completed in October 2018. The two sides agreed to add 200 villages in the second phase, which was completed in March 2022. StarTimes was the contractor responsible for project implementation.
