On 28 April 2022, the Chinese Ambassador to Mauritania and the Mauritanian Minister of Health attended the handover ceremony of medical equipment donated by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in Mauritania. This batch of medical equipment consists of 50 ventilators, 180 oxygen concentrators, 28,800 masks (N95 and KF94), 152,400 surgical masks, 5,000 protective suits (including shoe covers), 40 syringe pumps, 5,600 trash bags, and 5,040 face shields and visors. The aid aims to support government efforts to combat Covid-19, mitigate its negative repercussions, and also contribute to strengthening the national health system in general.
