Project narrative

In 2015, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) signed an agreement with University of Valencia to provide a grant for the renovation of the Confucius Institute at the University of Valencia as part of its designation as a "Model Confucius Institute". University of Valencia will also provide money to fund the project over 10 years. On December 6, 2015, an inauguration ceremony was held to mark the completion of the project.

Staff comments

1. As this is a "Model Confucius Institute", which is a common renovation project for Confucius Institutes funded by Hanban grants, AidData has coded Hanban as the specific government institution funding the project and the project as a grant. 2. The precise establishment date of this Model Confucius Institute is unknown. For the time being, AidData has coded the commitment_year field as 2015 as this was the year the Model Confucius Institute it was established and marked the committment_year_estimated? field as True. This issue merits further investigation.
