In 2022, the Chinese Ambassador to Chad Wang Xining and Minister of Public Health and Disease Prevention of Chad Abderaim jointly signed the "Protocol between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Chad on the Dispatch of Chinese Medical Teams to Chad (2022-2026)" and the "Agreement between the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Public Health and Disease Prevention of the Republic of Chad on the Implementation of the Counterpart Hospital Cooperation Mechanism Project". These cooperation agreements represent a commitment to continue dispatching medical teams from China. On December 16, 2022, it was reported by the Chinese Embassy that the 18th medical team would arrive soon to Chad, although the specific date of arrival has not been reported. In 2023, the 18th medical team provided health check-ups and trainings for local medical professionals in Chad. The 18th Chinese medical team is made up of 11 specialist doctors in the fields of ophthalmology, gynecology, anesthesia, pediatrics, ENT, surgery, infectiology, orthopedics, pathology, radiology, and traditional Chinese medicine (acupuncture). On October 16 2023, the Ministry of Public Health and Disease Prevention of Chad held an award ceremony and issued honorary certificates for the 18th Chinese (Jiangxi) Medical Aid Team to Chad. As of then, the team provided outpatient and emergency services for 13,100 people, conducted more than 30 clinical technical trainings, and provided free medical services to nearly 1,000 people
