Project narrative

On May 21, 2013, Qiu Yuanping, Director of the Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, announced and delivered a $100,000 USD donation to Tung Wah Chinese Hospital in San Francisco, California during a visit from Governor Brown to Beijing, Nanjing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Brown and his delegation visited Shanghai when the California-China Trade & Investment Office was se to reopen after a similar one closed in 2003. The donation was for the construction and development of a new "patient tower" next door to the existing hospital building. The "great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation really should let the Chinese people at home and abroad benefit from the process of national development" said Qiu. The hospital offers traditional treatments such as acupuncture, cupping, therapeutic massage and herbal medicine.
