Project narrative

On November 16, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Tunisia donated epidemic prevention materials and medical supplies to Houcine Bouzaiene regional hospital (Hôpital Régional Houcine Bouzaiène or المستشفى الجهوي الحسين بوزيان) in Gafsa Province in southern Tunisia Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jianguo and the embassy staff visited the hospital to deliver medical supplies and provide cash assistance worth RMB 750,000 for the hospital to purchase urgently needed medical equipment. The monetary value of the epidemic prevention materials and medical equipment is unknown. Gafsa Governor Abdelhalim Hamdi thanked China for its assistance, vowing to further consolidate and develop friendly cooperation with the Chinese side. After the ceremony, Ambassador Zhang met with members of the 26th Chinese medical team in Tunisia working at the hospital. He stressed the need to promote medical cooperation between China and Tunisia, and welcomed Tunisian health workers to visit and study in China.
