Project narrative

In 2018, the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology pledged to donate four mobile clinic vehicles to Sierra Leone. Delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the vehicles only reached Sierra Leone on March 7, 2022, during a launch ceremony attended by Ambassador Hu Zhangliang. Presented to the Sierra Leone Minister of Health Dr. Austin Demby, this donation marked the inauguration of the Health-on-Wheels initiative intending to improve infectious disease diagnosis and treatment, maternal and child care, and provide vaccinations. These mobile health clinics are equipped with portable diagnostic tools, capable of testing for blood, urine, liver and kidney maladies, electrocardiograms, ENT disease diagnostics, and trauma emergency kits. On August 1, 2022, the four mobile buses were deployed for a week in the Western Areas of Bo and Port Loko, followed by a week of rest. This type of scheduling continued for six months throughout different areas of Sierra Leone.
