Project narrative

On June 30, 2022, the China Cultural Center in Cairo, a cultural organization established by the Chinese Ministry of Tourism and Culture, announced the start of the Chinese song singing contest "Egypt Sings 2022" or "WeSing" contest. The contest was organized by the China Cultural Center in Cairo & Tencent Music Entertainment. Egyptians and foreigners living in Egypt were eligible to take part in the competition, and auditions were held from June 30 to July 18 and from August 1 to August 20. The contestants will have to choose from 25 designated Chinese songs. The first-place winner received either a scholarship to study in China or EGP 20,000. The second place had two winners, each receiving EGP 10,000. The third place had five winners, each receiving EGP 6,000.
