Project narrative

In December 2004, the city of Zhuhai, China, donated a statue of Yung Wing, the first student from China to graduate from an American university, to Yale University's Sterling Memorial Library. The bronze statue was officially dedicated on December 21, 2004, in a ceremony at Yale University's Betts House to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Yung Wing's graduation.
