Project narrative

In August 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Tunisia agreed to provide 4 Tunisian hospitals with RMB 300,000 to purchase needed medical supplies and equipment, and 120,000 N95 surgical masks. This donation was made to "further promote China-Tunisia medical cooperation, support local efforts to fight the epidemic, and improve the working environment of medical personnel". The first handover ceremony took place on October 7, 2022. Chinese ambassador to Tunisia Zhang Jianguo handed over a cash check at a ceremony held at the Regional Hospital of Jendouba Province. The donation included RMB 75,000 in cash, 30,000 masks, and 50 boxes of 38,745 protective supplies such as surgical gloves and hand sanitizers.

Cost of 120,000 masks = 120,000 masks * USD 0.24/mask * RMB 6.76/USD = RMB 194,688 (sources ID #199830, #199831) Total Transaction Amount = RMB 194,688 + RMB 300,000 = RMB 494,688 Note: 1. Cannot find information on the three other hospitals that received the grant. 2. Cannot find information on whether there is another handover of funds and/or medical supplies.
