Project narrative

In early March 2022, the Chinese Embassy delivered anti-epidemic supplies including 100 oxygen tanks and 40 oxygen concentrators donated by the Jiangsu Provincial Government to Windhoek Central Hospital and Katutura Hospital in the Khomas Region of Namibia. Each hospital received 50 oxygen tanks and 20 oxygen concentrators, which were received by the directors of both hospitals during a handover ceremony. It is unclear what other materials were donated. The Jiangsu Provincial Government previously donated a batch of anti-epidemic supplies (captured in Record ID#103138) that included 10,000 face masks, 3,000 protective suits, 1,000 pairs of goggles, 800 face shields, 100 oxygen tanks, and 30 oxygen concentrators to the Khomas Region of Namibia. This donation was handed over by the Chinese Embassy on February 23, 2022.

For now, AidData estimates the commitment date as February 2022 based on a source indicating that the Jiangsu Provincial Government had committed to provide two batches of anti-epidemic supplies prior to a February 2022 donation of anti-epidemic supplies captured in Record ID#103138. AidData estimates the implementation and completion dates as March 2022. 2. AidData has estimated the transaction amount for this donation based on price catalogues from the World Health Organization (WHO). Please see the TUFF Methodology for additional details.
