On April 11, 2004, the Export-Import Bank of China entered into a $150 million export buyer's credit loan agreement with Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC) — world's largest international shipping company founded by Italian billionaire Gianluigi Aponte and legally incorporated in Switzerland — to buy shipping cargo containers from China.
