Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

Twenty University of Washington students will attend a faculty-led program for eight weeks from June 28 - August 22, 2018. The program will be housed in the Beijing Language and Culture University. The program encompasses morning intensive Chinese language classes, afternoon individual tutoring sessions with native Chinese speakers, and cultural classes covering topics such as martial arts, the Chinese tea ceremony, and calligraphy. Students will also be exploring Beijing through field trips. During the 8-week stay, the 20 UW students will have the unique opportunity to meet and socialize on a regular basis with incoming UW students in Beijing, through one of Husky Help Organization (HHO)'s send-offs in China. The Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters through the Confucius Institute of the State of Washington covers the expense of the program by providing scholarships for 20 University of Washington Students to study abroad in Beijing.
