Project narrative

During the Covid-19 Pandemic (2020) the following seven institutions/corporations donated the following quantities of surgical masks to the University of Washington Libraries: The Chinese Academy of Social Science Library donated 2,500 masks (captured by Record ID#103213); the Dunhuang Academy Library sent 500 masks (Record ID#110984); Shanghai Library sent 500 masks (Record ID#110985); the China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNPIEC), Shanghai Branch, sent one to two hundred masks (Record ID#110986); China Educational Publications Import and Export Corporation Ltd. (CEPIEC) donated one to two hundred masks (Record ID#110987); and China International Book Trading Corporation also sent one to two hundred masks (Record ID#110988). Beijing Zhenben Technology Co. Ltd, a private company, also donated one to two hundred masks. UW Libraries donated the majority of the masks to UW Medicine, except for 500 masks which were distributed among UW Libraries' Tateuchi East Asia Library (TEAL) staff members.
