Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On April 4, 2022, Panama's Foreign Minister, Erika Mouynes, met with Wang Yi, State Councilor and Chinese Foreign Minister, to discuss cooperation, trade and investment, and generalized political dialogue. The meeting was held in Tunxi, Anhui Province, China. One notable product was a cooperation agreement in which China confirmed their delivery/donation of 4 drilling machines for building water wells— intended to make drinking water more accessible throughout rural areas. Other notable outcomes of the meeting include progress on addressing China's requested support for the Neutrality Protocol of the Panama Canal Treaty, Panama's confirmation of the certification process renewal for their provision of pork, chicken, and seafood plants, and the delivery of various other tools/goods intended to aid development efforts— confirmed within the same cooperation agreement.
